With each edition of Real People, residents share stories with the community. The fall session features:
Frédérique Abramovici
Carol Morley
Marty Schwartz
About the Storytellers
Frédérique Abramovici is a resident of Ancram. She is an artist all the way. She loves to draw and to compose poetry and short stories. Most of her life was spent in New York City but she is at home in Ancram because it is very much an artistic hub.
Frederique's story is about unexpected moments of connection she made while swimming at Jacob Riis Park Beach on a scorching July day in 1972.
Carol Morley is an avid bicyclist and long distance walker who loves reading, playing Scrabble, and talking to people - including strangers. She lives in Castleton-On-Hudson.
Carol's story is about how reading a notice in the newspaper for a photo exhibit in 2007 opened up possibilities for happiness during the Covid lockdown in the spring of 2020 and changed her plans for the future.
Martin Schwartz is a Certified Financial Planner®, Senior Vice President Wealth Management for Merrill Lynch and lives in Ancramdale.
Marty’s story is about a very unique challenge he once faced when growing his business.
Do you have a story you’d like to tell?
REAL PEOPLE REAL STORIES has been a highlight of Ancram Center’s annual programming since our very first season. The RPRS approach involves a series of storytelling workshops. In these workshops, residents develop and shape their monologues with guidance from program director Paul Ricciardi or lead teaching artist Sarah Katan. The results are an array of poignant, humorous, and captivating tales that celebrate community and personal connection. For more information, please reach out to Paul Ricciardi at paul@ancramcenter.org.
