Love at first sight is easy… letting it through the front door is a goddamn Odyssey. 

All he wants to do is let the perfect man in. But can he overcome his unhinged neighbor, a seductive cult, a self-obsessed vampire, and a cat intent on dragging him to hell?

Written and performed by Todd Almond (Girl from the North Country, Gossip Girl) and directed by Tony Award winner David Cromer (Good Night, and Good Luck; The Band’s Visit), I’m Almost There is a rueful, hilarious, and poignant modern love story in song about a man crossing a sea of doubts to find happiness... and good coffee. Initially developed by the award-winning producers of Fleabag and Baby Reindeer, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe hit comes to Ancram Center, following a run at BAM in June and ahead of a major US tour.

Ancram Center is pleased to welcome back Todd Almond who appeared here in a concert performance of The Lucky Few (now entitled Miss Pennington County) at the Circa 1799 Barn in 2023.

TODD ALMOND is an acclaimed performer, songwriter, and playwright. His solo show I’m Almost There was hailed by The New York Times as “a work of wonder,” and his recent Broadway performance in Girl from the North Country was praised as “stunning” by The Washington Post and “roof-raising, uplifting, and invigorating” by The Hollywood Reporter. Almond co-wrote the songs for and music-directed Audible’s hit comedy Laura Benanti: Nobody Cares, and also appeared opposite Ms. Benanti as Gideon Wolfe in the HBO Max reboot of Gossip Girl. His musical adaptation of The Odyssey, produced at Shakespeare in the Park’s Delacorte Theater in Central Park, was hailed by The New York Times as “brash, funny and heart-stirring.” Todd recently toured the U.S. in his original musicalKansas City Choir Boy, co-starring rock icon Courtney Love; Rolling Stone called the piece “awesome, slyly punk rock.” He also starred in three of his original musicals at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park: The Tempest, The Winter’s Tale, and The Odyssey. His musical Girlfriend, based on the Matthew Sweet album of the same title, has become a perennial favorite for theater companies across the U.S. and in Japan. His past collaborators include Sarah Ruhl (Melancholy Play: A Chamber Musical), Jenny Schwartz (Iowa), Laura Benanti (In Constant Search for the Right Kind of Attention), Sherie Rene Scott (Piece of Meat), Kelli O’Hara (Live at Carnegie Hall), and Andrew Rannells (Live from Lincoln Center). As a composer and orchestrator, Almond has written and arranged music for Noises Off on Broadway, Iowa at Playwrights Horizons, Fcking A* at Signature Theatre, How to Transcend a Happy Marriage at Lincoln Center Theater, and the film adaptation of Michael John LaChiusa’s Hello Again. Other New York acting credits include Stage Kiss by Sarah Ruhl at Playwrights Horizons, People Are Wrong at the Vineyard, and Law & Order: SVU.

Harpist & Singer ERIN HILL has played, sung with, and opened for Cyndi Lauper, Enya, FKA Twigs, Kanye West, moby, Sinead O’Connor, a-ha, Josh Groban, Jewel, Randy Newman, and for Presidents, First Ladies, and royalty.  She’s had a #1 album on the Billboard world chart and has played solo at The Royal Albert Hall.  She’s known as “The Pretty White Girl” from Comedy Central’s Chappelle’s Show and she also wrote the music for the sketch.  Erin’s “Eleanor Rigby” cover has been heard on SiriusXM The Beatles Channel, and its music video has won awards in over 50 film festivals around the world.  Erin was in the Original Broadway casts of Titanic (Kate Mullins), Urinetown, and Cabaret (Lulu), and originated the role of Ilse in Spring Awakening with Duncan Sheik.  Other theater includes Midsummer Night’s Dream at Classic Stage Company (First Fairy & Robin Starveling), the national tour of the Lincoln Center South Pacific, The Vineyard Theater, La Jolla Playhouse, The Goodman, Goodspeed Opera House, and Sundance Theater Lab. Erin is featured in the HBO documentary Taylor Mac's 24-Decade History of Popular Music, on the new Gossip Girl, Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing, The Chris Rock Show, PBS’s American Masters, The Tony Awards, Late Night with David Letterman, in Tim Robbins’ film Cradle Will Rock, in The Materialists, and by HBO in a Game of Thrones promo playing the Game of Thrones theme on her harp.  Her albums include Girl Inventor, featuring her original sci-fi pop, Harp Town, and Christmas Harp.  Erin’s tribute shows with her 10-piece band include Harp Oddity: The Music of David Bowie; Harpbusting: The Music of Kate Bush; That 70’s Harp!; and Total Eclipse of the Harp: The 80’s! She is a sci-fi & horror geek, a die-hard Cubs fan, and a proud dog mom.

NOAH MAX AMICK is thrilled to make his theatrical debut in I’m Almost There. Born and raised in New York City, Noah is an active presence on the city’s modern jazz scene and performs across a wide range of musical styles.
