Everyone has a story to tell. With each edition of Real People, residents share stories with the community.
Featured storytellers of the fall edition are Alexandra Angeloch (Woodstock), Jeffrey Dreiblatt (Copake) and Diane Mattes (Sharon).
About the Storytellers
Alexandra Angeloch is a Hudson Valley writer, actor, and speech language pathologist. Proud member of Howl Playwrights and Dramatist Guild.
Alex's story is about dashed dreams and the surprising lessons that lie in their wake.
Jeffrey Dreiblatt is an artist, poet and volunteer firefighter. He is a board member of El Porvenir, an organization that helps bring clean water, sanitation and reforestation to rural Nicaragua. He lives in Copake.
Jeffrey’s story is about how saying yes can sometimes land you in cold water.
After a long career in advertising sales, Diane Mattes is retired and lives in Sharon CT with her cat, Charlie. She is a volunteer and board member of The Little Guild animal shelter. She loves taking walks with friends and regaling them with stories.
Diane’s story is about her parents’ unexpected late-in-life divorce and equally unexpected reconciliation.
Do you have a story you’d like to tell?
REAL PEOPLE REAL STORIES is a centerpiece of Ancram Center’s seasonal programming. The RPRS approach involves a series of storytelling workshops. In these workshops, residents develop and shape their monologues with guidance from program director Paul Ricciardi. The results are an array of poignant, humorous, and captivating tales that celebrate community and personal connection. For more information, please reach out to Paul Ricciardi at paul@ancramcenter.org.
